Once a year FSA (Families Supporting Adoption) puts on a dinner to honor birthmom's here in Boise. The birthmom's are currently in the program and they brought a family member with them. It was a casual affair. The program was wonderful. Kids sang "I love to see the temple." Then our director gave the girls some "food for thought." Here is a quote she shared with us that night....
"Stand still. In a moment I will blow. But first, remember, remember, remember the signs (truth). Say them to yourself when you wake in the morning and when you lie down at night, and when you wake in the middle of the night. And whatever strange things may happen to you, let nothing turn your mind from following the signs. And secondly, I give you a warning.....Here on the mountain, the air is clear and your mind is clear; as you drop down into Narnia, the air will thicken. Take great care that is does not confuse your mind. And the signs which you have learned here will not look at all as you expect them to look, when you meet them there. That is why it is so important to know them by heart and pay no attention to appearances. Remember the signs and believe the signs. Nothing else matters."
(C.S. Lewis, The Silver Chair, Book 6 in The Chronicles of Narnia)
For me this was powerful because although we haven't heard anything on this next adoption, we have had signs that we are to have another one. Soon after the "food for thought" we ate. It was great, lots of good yummys! A gift was given to each of the birthmom's. The rest of the night was followed by just good conversation. We shared stories and experiences. I enjoyed hearing about their adopted family. I look forward to attending again next year.
